We were asked to integrate a light manufacturing facility for kayaks and sculls with a public exhibition space relating to those products.
Tapping into the industrial legacy of the surrounding area, the manufacturing space is housed in a new-age warehouse. The hanging boxes running the length of the space are programmed with offices, research and development facilities, and Depaul University boathouse amenities. The striking gesture of the silver clad rising exhibition space invites the public to learn about the manufacturing process, to engage with private industry, and to occupy the riverfront.
